Thoughts in process
This is the blog of the artist Anna Puhakka. The purpose of this blog is to document and interrogate the processes I am using in my work. I have a multidisciplinary approach to making my art and I explore my relationship to identity, religion, ritual and the balance of power often through my Karelian heritage. My practice incorporates an array of mediums such as installation, photography, sound, performance, video and text.

Working out the kinks
For the past few weeks I have been consumed by a new project. I am combining architectural elements, nature and technology to create an installation that is time sensitive, potentially interactive and has intervention like applications.
I am creating pillars that have the potential to transform themselves into a banyan tree, an underground network of canals and a myriad selection of other things. For the past week I have been working on the forest. I have focused on testing out materials, transferability of images on them and lighting structures. My studio has a limited amount of space and storage. I need to create approximately 9 life size pillars (60cm diameter and 3,5m high) that can successfully be dismantled and reassembled without too much hassle and time.
While waiting for the paint and other substances to dry i took some oddball images of a horse and a banana and drank some coffee :D
